With EA SPORTS FC 24, the first game without the former name and licensor FIFA is waiting in the wings. When it will be released and how you can play it in advance, we will answer your questions.
The FIFA 23 season is coming to an end – and with it an era. For the time being, the football simulation bore the name “FIFA” in its title for the last time. In May last year, the association and publisher announced the separation.
EA SPORTS FC 24, as the game will be called in future, will replace its predecessor on Friday, 22 September. However, only for those who have either pre-ordered the Ultimate Edition or subscribed to EA Play. While pre-orderers can play the game on the virtual pitch without any time limit, EA Play users will only have ten hours to test the football simulation. Those who play on the console will already have access from midnight. PC players will have to wait until six in the morning German time.
Buyers of the Ultimate Edition will receive bonuses such as 4,600 FC Points or a Team of the Week 1 item in addition to earlier access. However, this is countered by a hefty price of 110 euros on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series XS. The Standard Edition, on the other hand, costs “only” 80 euros and will be released without benefits one week later – on 29 September – for the regular release. Hence the question: Does the EA SPORTS FC 24 version really bring advantages? As in previous years, FC 24 will be released for both old- and next-gen consoles, the Nintendo Switch and the PC.
What’s new in EA SPORTS FC 24?
A few weeks ago EA SPORTS already gave a glimpse of the new features. Hypermotion V is to be the “gameplay changer” and the improved Frostbite engine is to offer more realism. In Ultimate Team, women’s items are implemented for the first time, and cards can also be improved through evolutions. The latter, however, has a bland aftertaste, as there are challenges that have to be unlocked with coins or FC-24 points. In career mode, the focus of the innovations is on tactics. “Tactical visions” and the use of coaches are to challenge the virtual coaches more.
