The DFL is making good on its announcement and is staging the VBL Grand Final 2022 as an offline event with spectators, ticket sales began on Monday.
When Christopher Holschier also spoke about the VBL Grand Final a week and a half ago as part of a virtual media round for the final of the Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) Club Championship by bevestor, a few question marks still sounded. The head of internal communication and innovation communication at the DFL put it into perspective.
“If conditions permit, also with spectators,” Holschier said about this year’s final round of the German FIFA Individual Championship. In the meantime, the DFL’s plans have progressed: It was communicated via the VBL accounts in the social networks that the Grand Final will take place as an offline event in front of a crowd – at least the decisive second day.
Six to eight euros for 5 June
Of course, given the date of 5 June, minimal residual doubts remain. Against the background of the increasing reduction of general restrictions, however, hope is high. The VBL Grand Final will be held at the “XPOST” venue in Cologne, and tickets went on sale on Monday. It has not been announced how many tickets will be offered – they will cost six to eight euros.
The successor to Umut ‘RBLZ_Umut’ Gültekin will be sought at the beginning of June, the Leipzig player is currently the reigning individual as well as club champion. ‘RBLZ_Umut’ himself could also defend his title, he is already directly qualified for the VBL Grand Final. The same goes for his RB teammate Richard ‘RBLZ_GAUCHO’ Hormes.
In addition to the two “Red Bulls”, the seven other VBL Club Championship clubs that achieved a Top 4 finish in their respective division last season will also send two players each into the race. The rest of the field will be put together via the play-offs in May, with 16 tickets still up for grabs.
