VBL: Gladbach and ‘Lefti’ go separate ways

After two years, Eleftherios ‘Lefti’ Ilias’ time at Borussia Mönchengladbach comes to an end. The player and team made the announcement on social media.

With this, ‘Left’ joins a host of prominent VBL departures this summer. So far, for example, Mustafa ‘xMusti19’ Cankal and reigning singles champion Dylan DullenMIKE Neuhausen moved to FOKUS, while Michael ‘MegaBit’ Bittner announced his Werder exit.

“We are very sorry to see him go. He is an absolute asset to the team,” said eSports director Stefan Schuffels, summing up Ilias’ departure. Ilias is one of the “best players in the world” who has made a valuable contribution to the Foals and “done a lot for us”, said Schuffels.

‘New challenge’ still unknown

‘Lefti’ himself thanked “every single person in the club” and explained his new direction as follows: “After two beautiful fine years with many ups and downs, I have decided to leave Borussia-E-Sports and take on a new challenge.”

Ilias initially left it open as to what this would look like, but announced a prompt clarification: “Soon you will find out what happens next for me.
