Gauntlet: Glitched breaks with the familiar agent system, whilst the Warden expands the weapon arsenal. Riot is also overhauling the progression system and is already looking ahead to 2027.
Gauntlet: Glitched turns Valorant’s usual agent system on its head. Instead of choosing agents such as Jett, Sova or Omen, players select abilities from a random pool and use them to build their own robo-agent.
Eight teams of two then compete against each other in a tournament format, in which the duos face their opponents one after the other. Whoever prevails until the end wins.
Even during a match, your agent does not remain unchanged. Abilities can be upgraded, whilst so-called ‘glitches’ can alter familiar skills, in some cases significantly. This enables combinations that do not exist in the classic version of Valorant.
New assault rifle: Warden
Vandal or Phantom? In future, there will be a third option. With the Warden, Riot is introducing another automatic assault rifle into the game, which is designed to be particularly effective at longer ranges.
When it comes to aimed fire, the new weapon places greater emphasis on precision whilst delivering high damage output. It is designed to bridge the gap between classic assault rifles and sniper rifles, offering a new tactical option for buy rounds.
New Agent Progression System
In future, favourite agents will be more than just a matter of habit. A new progression system replaces the previous agent equipment system and rewards playtime and performance with individual agents.
Also new are customisable agent IDs and additional mastery rewards such as portraits, icons and frames. So, anyone who remains loyal to an agent for a long time and performs well with them will be able to show this off to the world in future.
Ranked updates, new agent and further changes
Riot plans to highlight achievements in ranked play more prominently in future. The ranked profile will be revamped as early as the next patch. This should allow players to better track their progress and showcase their achievements more prominently.
Further changes will follow next year. New ranked rewards will be introduced at the start of the season, and the so-called ‘Ranked Flex’ will also be launched at the start of the year. This will evolve based on individual performance throughout the year and receive additional upgrades with each act.
A new agent is also set to arrive soon. The next character is expected to be released following the Valorant Champions World Championship, which ends on 18 October. He would be the 30th agent in the game after Miks. No further information or leaks have emerged as yet.
Patch 13.06 is due to be released on 22 September, shortly before the start of Valorant Champions. With Patch 13.06, the first new features will arrive on the live servers on 22 September. Other announced changes extend as far as 2027.
