Now at 46th in the rankings, she faces a stern test against the current 6th in the world in Garcia.

Konta has struggled to get into the latter stages of tournaments in 2018, her best result so far was runner-up in Nottingham and the QF in Brisbane. Inflicting Williams’ career-worst defeat is probably the highlight of her tennis year. The only thing going in her favour is that she went out of the US Open in the first round last year, so her rankings won’t be affected if she does make an early exit to Garcia.
