Arsenal are securing one of their key players ahead of schedule. Winger Bukayo Saka and the Gunners are said to have agreed on a new contract that will keep the 24-year-old at the club until 2031.
For years, Arsenal has been striving to become one of the top teams in the Premier League. Home-grown talent Bukayo Saka, who has been playing for the North London club since he was eight, has played a major role in this. Now, the Gunners have extended the 24-year-old right winger’s contract, which was already set to run until 2027, ahead of schedule until 2031 with improved terms, at least according to The Athletic. The new deal is one of a series of extensions designed to cement Arsenal’s status as a top team in England in the long term.
In recent months, William Saliba, Gabriel, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly have all signed new contracts.
Saka made his debut for Arsenal in 2018 at the age of just 17 in the Europa League, and on New Year’s Day 2019, he became the first Arsenal player born in the 21st century to play in the Premier League in a 4-1 win over Fulham. Since then, Saka has made 262 competitive appearances for the Gunners, scoring 74 goals. So far this season, he has made 24 appearances in the league and Champions League, scoring six goals. The Gunners, who are aiming to win the English championship for the first time since 2004, are currently six points ahead of Manchester City in the table.
In October last year, he became the seventh-youngest player in Premier League history to reach 100 goal contributions. At Arsenal, too, he is already on his way to making history at a young age. Together with Theo Walcott, he also ranks fifth among the players with the most goal contributions in Arsenal’s Premier League history.
But Saka is not only an important part of the Gunners’ team. National coach Thomas Tuchel also relies on the services of the 24-year-old, who has played 48 games (14 goals) for the Three Lions so far.
