“Under the spell”: Suver extends contract with club

1. FC Nürnberg has extended the contract of defender Mario Suver. With this, the Franconians put a tick behind the next personnel matter.

Erik Shuranov, Johannes Geis, Enrico Valentini – and now Suver. The club continues to press ahead with its personnel planning. With the 22-year-old, the FCN has secured the services of a defender with good prospects, who has recommended himself via the U21s and has also been playing more frequently in the 2nd Bundesliga.

Since summer newcomer Florian Hübner has been missing since the beginning of the season due to a shoulder injury, the Stuttgart native has risen to 3rd place in the defender rankings. “Diligence, passion and the will to develop pay off. Mario embodies exactly these basic virtues of football. He has improved enormously over the past few months in many areas of his game, but also in terms of team tactics,” said sporting director Dieter Hecking, explaining the contract extension on the club’s website.

Two times over longer distances

The club again did not disclose an exact contract length, but according to the statement, the contract was “extended for the long term”. “When I came to Nuremberg over two years ago, the club immediately captivated me. I was and am thrilled by the family environment and the professional conditions. The past weeks and months, including my first longer assignments, were accompanied by great intensity and joy,” Suver is quoted as saying.

Four of his six competitive appearances this season were short-lived, but in Darmstadt (0:2) and at home against Kiel (2:1) Suver was allowed to prove himself for 45 and 79 minutes respectively.
