UFC 227 Takes Place Next Month – Here’s the Latest News

On Saturday 4th August, UFC 227 will be taking place and rumors are going into overdrive. Volkan Oezdemir is currently awaiting his felon battery trial that takes place this week, but he is down to take on Alexander Gustafsson at UFC 227.

The event will be at the Staples Center in LA, following this weekend’s glitzy MMA event UFC 226 in Las Vegas. Oezdemir has not stepped into the octagon since his failed title bid against Daniel Cormier. It has only just been announced that Oezdemir has switched from a bout with Shogun Rua to take on Gustafsson at UFC 277, which has been questioned by people across the MMA world, given that he was due to headline the fight with Shogun.

Fresh UFC news is that Miocic is open to taking on the big money fights with him, refusing to rule out the possibility of a fight with Jon Jones. Of course, he has the small matter of UFC 226 and Cormier to contend with first before he can start thinking about his next challenge.

UFC 227 Main Card

The main event is the Bantamweight bout between T.J. Dillashaw and Cody Garbrandt.

Which will be very interesting as these guys were team mates before Dillashaw left team Alpha Male, which left some bad blood between these two. Cody ‘no love’ Garbrandt  will be looking to reclaim his title he lost in December when he lost to Dominick Cruz.

The other big fight involves the Flyweight pairing of Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo. The women’s straw weight fight will be between Polyana Viana and JJ Aldrich, so there is a very exciting UFC schedule to look forward to next month.

For now, all eyes will be on this weekend’s action at UFC 226 where Miocic and Cormier will take centre stage, you can catch all of that action through pay-per-view TV in the US or on BT in the UK.
