Domenico Tedesco’s time as manager of FC Bologna appears to be coming to an end after just over two months. Meanwhile, his potential successor is reportedly already in the running.
Domenico Tedesco appears to be on the verge of being sacked by FC Bologna. The 41-year-old had only taken up the role of manager at the Serie A club on 1 July. As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, amongst others, on Tuesday evening, the dismissal of the former Leipzig and Schalke manager is reportedly a done deal.
In the match against Sassuolo Calcio (2–2), Tedesco was shown a red card following a verbal outburst and was subsequently banned for two matches by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC). The former Belgium national team manager had to watch the 0–1 defeat against SSC Napoli from the stands.
It is reported that a successor has already been found in Palladino
The 41-year-old felt at home in Bologna from the outset. However, following a poor start to the season and just one point from four league matches with only two goals scored, last season’s eighth-placed Serie A side are falling far short of expectations.
Despite an ongoing suspension (Tedesco would still be suspended for the home match against FC Turin), Bologna’s club management has now apparently decided to make a change. The announcement of his dismissal is expected shortly. A successor is already lined up in the form of Raffaele Palladino. The 42-year-old Italian was in charge at Atalanta Bergamo from November 2025 until June this year. Prior to that, Palladino was in charge at Fiorentina and Monza.
