The English TV channel ITV had to apologize several times during the broadcast of a charity match in Manchester for a comment made by boxing superstar Tyson Fury.
Tyson Fury’s motivational comment forced British TV station ITV to apologize several times for the boxing superstar’s choice of words during the broadcast of a charity match in Manchester.
“We apologize for the swearing,” said TV presenter and former soccer player Alex Scott.
Fury uses the F-word
Fury gave a motivational speech for the English team before the charity event “Soccer Aid for Unicef,” in which a world selection played against Team England at Old Trafford – and used the F-word.
“There are 75,000 people here, the stadium is sold out. Unicef is a great cause. Let’s not forget these Three Lions on the pitch. They need to know how good we are. We are England. We are f***ing Spartans,” roared the former heavyweight world champion, earning laughter in the dressing room.
TV presenter Scott felt compelled to respond to Fury’s announcement and apologized immediately.
Tévez booed by United fans
Fury swore again during the first half, prompting ITV to address the audience once more. Scott promised to talk to the boxing star after the event.
The World XI won the charity match 5-4. Carlos Tévez scored four times for the winning team – as a former ManCity star, the Argentine was booed almost every time he touched the ball in the home stadium of city rivals Manchester United. Tévez himself played for the Red Devils between 2007 and 2009.
