With the latest patch, developer Strikerz Inc. has integrated two potentially influential features into UFL: Team of the Month and Skin Lab. Some of the mechanics seem very familiar.
The creators of UFL are continuing to work on making the ecosystem of their soccer simulation more attractive. Their latest attempts: Team of the Month and Skin Lab. These two features were added to the game with update 0.63.2 – and at first glance, they seem very familiar.
In Team of the Month, which Strikerz Inc. abbreviates to “TOTM,” the similarity is already apparent in the name. In FUT mode, Team of the Week (TOTW), Player of the Month (POTM), and Team of the Season (TOTS) have long been standard features—the latter event is currently running in FC 25.
More than $50 for a TOTM bundle
The logic behind it is almost the same in UFL: The best players of the month receive “unique cards,” and “themed content and in-game activities” are also released. The accompanying bundles come at a hefty price: The three different “sizes” cost $20, $33, and $60 – that’s up to about $53.
For the most expensive bundle, players receive premium status for seven days and 30 skin packs for the Team of the Month. In addition, Strikerz Inc. is giving away 10x boosters for the in-game currencies Credit Points (CP), Reputation Points (RP) and Experience Points (XP).
SBCs with intermediate currency?
The name Skin Lab may not ring a bell with players at first. However, the mechanics seem familiar: unused and outdated skins can now be used to “unlock exclusive skin packs.” A bit like SBCs in FUT.
But there is also a big difference: in the Skin Lab, old items are not directly exchanged for new, better content. Instead, players receive a new in-game currency called particles. These can then be used to purchase the packs.
Gameplay adjustments and couch mode
In addition to these major new features, the latest patch also included some gameplay adjustments and fixes. Both mainly affect AI assistance and the AI bot – specifically, offensive positioning in relation to the offside line and behavior during corner kicks.
Also in update 0.63.2: couch mode. A ranked game where two players can compete together on the same console.
