Top talent Enes Sali makes Romanian football history

In the World Cup qualifying group J Romania lost the chance of a World Cup ticket for Qatar 2022 – and yet Enes Sali made history in the process.

Enes Sali is considered the great promise of the future of Romanian football, that much is certain. The Toronto, Canada-born attacking midfielder, who is the son of Romanian parents of Turkish descent, is currently still under contract at club level in Romania with FCV Farul Constanta. Between 2017 and 2018, he trained at FC Barcelona in “La Masia”.

A move to a bigger European club could follow in the near future, and there is reportedly no lack of interest in the technician and top talent.

Internationally, Sali raised the profile of his name again on Sunday evening anyway and added an extra addition: youngest European senior international of all time. At just 15 years and 264 days old, the young professional born in 2006 came on as an 82nd-minute substitute in his first international match in the 2-0 win in Liechtenstein Sali replaced Martin Ödegaard, the 22-year-old Norwegian from Arsenal who made his senior debut in 2014 at the age of 15 years and 300 days.
