The Paris bronze medalist defeats the Mexican in California.
Heavyweight boxer Nelvie Tiafack celebrated his fifth victory in his fifth professional fight during his U.S. debut. In Temecula, California, the German bronze medalist from the Paris Olympics defeated Mexican Salvador Zavala by technical knockout in the third round.
“I set out to win convincingly, hopefully by knockout,” the 27-year-old had said in an interview with the Kölnische Rundschau and the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger before the fight—and he delivered. After a series of hard blows, the referee stopped the fight.
Boxing: Tiafack has won three fights by knockout.
Tiafack made his professional debut last year and has won every fight since—three by knockout. In the U.S., the 2022 European champion maintained his perfect record, securing his fourth early victory.
The six-round bout against Zavala, who had also been undefeated until then, took place as part of an event organized by U.S. YouTuber and professional boxer Jake Paul. Tiafack is signed to Paul’s boxing promotion, Most Valuable Promotions (MVP).
The fight was streamed live and free of charge on TikTok; for Tiafack, the bout was reportedly just a stepping stone. After all, he had said before the fight that in professional boxing, becoming a world champion is “the best.”
