Three times unlucky: Moukoko has to leave the U 21 again

When the German U 21 team meets Poland in Großaspach on Friday evening, Youssoufa Moukoko will not be able to play. This is the third time this year that the 16-year-old has left early.

During the European Championship group stage in March, Youssoufa Moukoko packed his bags earlier than originally planned, at the beginning of October he dropped out again at short notice – and now the 16-year-old BVB attacker has to miss out again. As the DFB announced early Thursday afternoon, Moukoko is leaving the U21 team hotel for the third time this year, this time an inflammation in his eye will not allow him to play in the upcoming European Championship qualifiers.

On Friday, the team of coach Antonio Di Salvo will face Poland, on Tuesday they will have to deal with San Marino in Ingolstadt. After the first four games, the DFB team leads the Group B table with twelve points and 17:4 goals, Poland is third (2/1/1), San Marino last (0/0/4).

Moukoko played his only two games in the U-21 jersey in September, scoring three goals in Latvia (3-1) and San Marino (6-0). He will not make any more appearances this calendar year.
