Thomas Müller becomes eSports commentator: Bayern’s Club Event goes to the finals

On Thursday, FC Bayern Munich will host the finals of its Club Event in eFootball 2024. The participants will play for two places at the World Cup – and under the watchful eye of a club legend.

An eSports tournament with a very special caster: Bayern professional and national player Thomas Müller will commentate on the two Grand Finals of the Munich Club Event in eFootball 2024. On Tuesday evening, he was on the much-criticized Frankfurt pitch for 20 minutes in the international match against the Netherlands (2:1). The Bundesliga top match against Borussia Dortmund is coming up next Saturday. In the meantime, Müller gives his assessment of virtual soccer.

The FC Bayern club legend will be at the microphone this Thursday from 4 p.m. to follow live with the viewers which two eFootball players will qualify for the Championship World Finals. Prior to this, two finalists each for console and mobile will be determined from 1pm. The final round of the Club Event will be broadcast on the eFootball YouTube channel.

Among the final qualifiers of the Bavarian community tournament is the Italian Carmine ‘Naples17x’ Liuzzi, who competed for AC Milan in the eFootball Championship Pro in 2023

No German player for the Munich team

German players did not make it through the preliminary round for both console and mobile. FC Bayern Munich will therefore definitely be represented by two foreign eSports players in the World Finals. Nothing new for the Bundesliga record champions in eFootball: the in-house team last consisted of two Spaniards, a Turk and a Brazilian. Before it was dissolved in the course of Konami’s eSports restructuring with eFootball 2024.

Instead of the league system of the eFootball Championship Pro, the new offshoot of the soccer simulation features the same club events that define the field of participants for the World Finals. They offer all gamers the chance to play their way onto the big stage – but professional eFootball eSports suffered a severe setback in Europe as a result.
