This is music to Barcelona’s ears: “Spotify” seems to be getting in on the act

The heavily indebted FC Barcelona has not only gone on the offensive in the transfer market, but things are also looking up for the Catalans off the pitch. A new financial backer has apparently been found.

FC Barcelona, which is in debt to the tune of 1.3 billion euros, apparently has a new source of money bubbling away. According to media reports, the Catalans will announce a 280 million euro cooperation with the audio streaming provider “Spotify” this Tuesday.

The sponsorship deal will run from the summer until 2025 and, according to “Radio Catalunya”, will include shirt advertising for both the men’s and women’s first teams as well as naming rights to the legendary Camp Nou stadium.

Recently, the Spanish top club had drastically reduced its spending on player salaries in order to be able to meet the league’s requirements. Additions such as Spanish international Ferran Torres (Manchester City, transfer fee 55 million euros) could not be reported without removing other professionals from the payroll. Former BVB striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could only be signed free of charge by Arsenal FC because the Londoners had paid the Gabonese a hefty compensation payment to terminate his contract, which was supposed to run until 2023.

Barça are also reportedly very interested in Erling Haaland from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund, which is why the FCB bosses are looking for new sources of money.

One of these has now been found, according to reports.
