Tennis ace Grigor Dimitrov is currently making headlines more often. The current number 16 in the world tennis rankings was the victim of a power outage at the Masters tournament in Madrid at the end of April and had to abandon his match against Britain’s Jacob Fearnley with the score at 6:4 and 5:4.
However, the Bulgarian attracted even more attention in Spain’s capital during the tournament. The eyes of the spectators were not only on the court, where Dimitrov defeated Nicolás Jarry, but also on the stands.
There, weeks of rumors seemed to be confirmed that Dimitrov has a famous new girlfriend. Actress Eiza González had taken a seat in Dimitrov’s box. That alone does not necessarily indicate a relationship, but it became clear after Dimitrov’s victory.
“You are unique”
González congratulated the Bulgarian on his victory with a kiss on the cheek – an extremely private sign of intimacy that was captured by the cameras. Fellow actress Eva Longoria, who was also in the audience alongside González, contented herself with a simple handshake for Dimitrov. Later, videos even circulated on social media showing González saying “Great, baby” to Dimitrov in English.
The rumors have now been confirmed. Eiza González congratulated the tennis player on his birthday on Instagram and called him the “man of her dreams.” The actress also wrote alongside a snapshot of the couple: “You are unique. You are truly my absolute favorite person, and I can’t believe how lucky I am to have found you.”
She then went on to say: “You have restored so much in me that I didn’t think was possible. To the kindest, most attentive and caring man. I admire every inch of your being and your evolution. I can’t wait to celebrate many more years with you. I love you, G.”
Not the first celebrity relationship
This isn’t Dimitrov’s first high-profile relationship. He was in a relationship with Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova between 2012 and 2015 and later dated singer Nicole Scherzinger. González, on the other hand, was photographed kissing fellow actor Liam Hemsworth in 2015.

González rose to fame as a teenager with a Nickelodeon series and has since enjoyed great success in Hollywood with films such as “Baby Driver” and “Bloodshot.” In 2015, she made headlines when she spoke openly about the depression and eating disorders she suffered after the tragic accidental death of her father when she was only twelve years old.
Dimitrov has been playing professionally on the ATP Tour since 2008 and, due to his elegant playing style with a one-handed backhand, has long been compared to tennis legend Roger Federer, earning him the nickname “Baby Fed.” However, Dimitrov has not been able to match the Swiss player’s success. The 34-year-old is still waiting for his first Grand Slam title, but has at least made it to number three in the world rankings.
