Professional tennis player Emma Raducanu is still battling a stalker. However, another encounter appears to have been prevented.
Emma Raducanu can’t seem to catch a break. Shortly before the start of the Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon, a stalker is once again causing a stir: a man who has been harassing the British tennis player for some time is said to have tried to get tickets for the prestigious tournament.
According to several British media reports, the All England Club’s security system detected the ticket request and blocked it. A restraining order has already been issued against the man.
Man harassed her in a café
Raducanu had already had to deal with a serious stalking incident in February at the WTA tournament in Dubai. At the time, she was so overwhelmed by the situation during her second-round match that she burst into tears and hid behind the umpire’s chair for a while. A man was then ejected from the stands for “fixated behavior.” Raducanu later said she could hardly breathe.
The first encounter with the man is said to have taken place in a café in Dubai. There, he handed her a letter and asked for a photo together. What initially appeared to be a normal fan encounter quickly became disturbing. Raducanu said the man told her “he would follow me everywhere.” After that, he continued to watch her in the café. She had already noticed the man at three previous tournaments.
Another man sentenced to community service
Dubai police later confirmed that the man had signed a “formal undertaking” to stay away from the tennis player. His name was reported to the tennis authorities.
Raducanu had already had experience with a stalker in 2022. At that time, a man was sentenced to community service and given a five-year restraining order.
