On Monday, Franziska Giffey presented the “Esports Team Berlin,” a support initiative for young eSports talent in Berlin. At the same time, the SPD politician outlined her vision for the future.
Franziska Giffey, Senator for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises in Berlin, opened the event at the LVL gaming and sports venue in Berlin and also announced plans for the coming years. Together with the esports player foundation (epf), the “Esports Team Berlin” initiative aims to develop young players and, ideally, help them become world-class athletes. The first steps have now been taken in Berlin.
All those involved agreed on one point: Germany needs more talent and faces in esports. Great players who can show themselves on the international stage, because there are definitely too few of them. These players must be found among the next generation and given the opportunity to excel and learn.
