Surprise in the ADAC GT Masters: ID Racing joins forces with Herberth

ID Racing opts for a cooperation with Herberth Motorsport for its debut season – Strong duo with Robert Renauer and Klaus Bachler

Amalgamation between Iris Dorr’s new team and Herberth Motorsport for the 2022 ADAC GT Masters: the 44 Porsche 911 GT3 R will be fielded in a cooperation. The team bears the name “ID Racing with Herberth”.

The merger is mainly due to the fact that Herberth Motorsport is already very busy with its commitments in the 24h Series and the GT World Challenge (GTWC) Europe. Just this weekend, the twin Renauer brothers took part in the 12 Hours of Mugello with Ralf Bohn and Daniel Allemann, but retired.

But the cooperation also suits Iris Dorr. “It was like winning the lottery,” she says on ‘PS On Air – Der ADAC GT Masters Talk’. “I was in negotiations with drivers, but nothing was fixed yet. I was amazed when the call came. “

Now she has two top drivers in the team who are at least in contention for wins – if not more. And Herberth Motorsport no longer has to handle everything on its own either. In the 2021 season, not a single podium was achieved – too few for the championship-winning team of 2018. The team now wants to build on such results.

Klaus Bachler promises to give everything to achieve top results. Robert Renauer adds: “We know each other very well and get on very well. I think we have the necessary package together. Together with Iris, we want to be fully involved and step on the gas. “

Dorr’s new adventure

Dorr knows that this means there are no excuses in the first season: “The pressure is great. I want to do everything right and well and pass that on to my boys. We are all well energised and looking forward to the season. “

Dorr, who most recently served as team manager at MRS GT-Racing, has been building her own team over the past few months. She draws on her experience of 30 years in motorsport, including several years as a driver herself.

“It was time to break new ground and start something new. I needed a new challenge,” she says. This also involved a lot in my private life: “I have a new workshop and a new place to live. Getting all that going was the biggest challenge this winter.”

The starting number 44 represents a lucky number for Dorr. “The four keeps running into me,” she says. Since 44. She is confident about the season: “I have a good team behind me. The guys are motivated, the drivers are motivated. I’m happy to take on this challenge.”

For the ADAC GT Masters, the team-up is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, there is another top car. But on the other hand, this merger also means the net loss of two Porsches in a field that has already seen a major exodus over the winter. Nevertheless, the mark of 20 cars will be cracked, the ADAC hopes for 25.
