Stress test failed! Ferrari 50 disqualified from 24 Hours of Le Mans

One of the factory Ferrari 499Ps failed the rear wing stress test at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and was subsequently disqualified

On Monday, the technical post-race inspection of the cars took place at the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans, and one car came under scrutiny: the Ferrari 50 (Fuoco/Molina/Nielsen), which finished fourth in the race, failed the stress test for the rear wing.

The other two Ferrari 499Ps, the third-placed 51 (Pier Guidi/Calado/Giovinazzi) and the winning privately entered 83 (Kubica/Ye/Hanson), passed the post-race inspection, subject to final checks on parts that were secured. This is subject to analysis of individual components that have been seized, which also affects other vehicles that have been inspected.

On Monday evening, a document was published summoning a team representative to appear before the stewards.

Specifically, it concerns violations of two articles of the WEC 2025 Technical Regulations and the Supplementary Regulations for the 2025 24 Hours of Le Mans. Articles 2.4 of the Technical Regulations and 1.3.3 of the Supplementary Regulations emphasize in general that all vehicles must be compliant with the regulations, safe, and in accordance with their homologation and the Balance of Performance (BoP) at all times.

Point 3.8.7 of the WEC Technical Regulations is particularly relevant, as it defines the load tests for the rear wing. The main blade of the wing must not deflect by more than 15 millimeters when subjected to a defined force of 2,400 newtons distributed over six contact points, each 200 millimeters wide.

The load is applied over 50 percent of the wing width, which corresponds to a test area of one meter in the middle of a two-meter-wide wing. The outer 0.5 meters are therefore not subject to this load test.

This outer part is tested on the end plates. These are loaded downwards with 1,000 newtons. Here too, the maximum permissible deformation is 15 millimeters.
