Standoff intensifies: Lookman no longer present

Ademola Lookman wants nothing more to do with Atalanta Bergamo’s black and blue jersey and instead wants the black and blue jersey of Inter Milan. The striker is going on strike for this cause, and in an increasingly clear manner.

Since mid-July, it has been known that Inter Milan has been working hard to secure the services of Ademola Lookman and is willing to pay a substantial amount of money for the former Leipzig player.

However, no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs, which is known to be extremely upsetting for the 27-year-old Nigerian international.

The player is no longer available for comment.

Lookman recently publicly attacked the Lombardy club, speaking of “broken promises and poor treatment.” These are harsh accusations from the English-born player, who has been playing for the Bergamo club since 2022 and only last year secured victory in the Europa League with a hat-trick (3-0 in the final against Bayer Leverkusen).

Lookman (under contract until 2027) also made it clear in his statement that there was no turning back and that he had his mind set on a “new challenge and a new adventure,” apparently at Inter Milan.

In order to push through a deal this summer, the Atalanta offensive stalwart is now on strike. Lookman recently missed two consecutive days of training with coach Ivan Juric, Gianpiero Gasperini’s successor, without permission. This could result in legal action.

And that’s not all: according to Corriere dello Sport, Lookman can no longer be reached or located. He is said to have left the city of Bergamo, and only his agent knows his current whereabouts. As a result, Atalanta’s management can currently only communicate and negotiate with the agent.

What is also clear is that an offer from Inter of €45 million plus bonuses has recently been rejected. Atalanta Bergamo is said to be vehemently demanding €50 million instead. One possibility currently circulating is that Milan have now offered €46 million plus a young player to their Lombardy neighbors. Will that be enough?
