Smoke pots and Bengalos in Cologne: Gladbach must pay 12,000 euros

Borussia Mönchengladbach fans have to pay a fine of 12,000 euros for setting fire to the derby at 1. FC Köln

The DFB sports court has imposed this fine on Borussia Mönchengladbach in single-judge proceedings following an indictment by the DFB Control Committee for unsportsmanlike conduct by its supporters.

The club can use up to EUR 4,000 of the fine for security or violence prevention measures. However, Borussia must prove this to the DFB by June 30, 2024

Before and during Borussia’s away match at Rhine rivals 1. FC Köln on October 22, 2023, supporters of the foals burned at least four smoke pots and eight Bengal fires.

The club has agreed to the verdict, which is therefore legally binding.
