Sinner qualified for ATP Finals in Turin

Thanks to Jannik Sinner, half of the field of participants for the ATP Finals in Turin is now set.

The in-form Italian tennis pro Jannik Sinner has become the fourth player to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin in mid-November. After his convincing tournament win in Tokyo on Wednesday, it was enough for the 22-year-old South Tyrolean to reach the third round at the Masters in Shanghai. He defeated the US American Marcos Giron 7:6 (9:7), 6:2.

Olympic champion Alexander Zverev is also hoping to take part in the unofficial world championship at the end of the tennis year. The Hamburg player’s chances are good despite his crushing second-round defeat in Shanghai against the Russian Roman Safiullin (3:6, 1:6).

Zverev, who won the prestigious tournament in 2018 and 2021, is currently ranked seventh in the year’s best rankings.

The top eight of the tennis year will be playing in Turin from 12 to 19 November. In addition to Sinner, Grand Slam record champion Novak Djokovic (Serbia), Spanish Wimbledon winner Carlos Alcaraz and Daniil Medvedev from Russia are already qualified.
