Schröder’s strong performance not enough against the Suns

Dennis Schröder made a big performance leap in his second game for the Houston Rockets. However, even the German national basketball player could not prevent the 121-124 loss against the NBA’s top team Phoenix Suns.

In his first appearance in the starting line-up, the 28-year-old was the clear leader of his teammates on Wednesday night (local time), directing almost all attacks and recording 23 points, nine assists and six rebounds himself. At one point, the Rockets were leading by twelve points against the NBA’s current best team, but made too many simple mistakes and lost.

Schröder had only come to Texas last week from the Boston Celtics in exchange for Daniel Theis and had still had visible problems adjusting in his debut two days earlier against the Utah Jazz.

Boston loses again after nine victories

The Celtics’ 111-112 loss to the Detroit Pistons ended a nine-game winning streak. Theis had four points and three rebounds in just under 16 minutes.

The Chicago Bulls are back at the top of the Eastern Conference with a 125-118 win over the Sacramento Kings, their fifth win in a row. The Orlando Magic with Franz Wagner from Berlin lost to the Atlanta Hawks 109-130, Wagner scored twelve points in his last game before the trip to the All-Star Weekend in Cleveland. There, the NBA rookie will be allowed to play in the mini-tournament of the best young players on Friday.
