National coach Alex Mumbru can take twelve players to the European Championship. This means that four of the 16 players from the training camp will have to return home. The first has now been chosen.
According to the German Basketball Federation (DBB), the eight-day training camp in Malaga has come to an end. While the rest of the national team is now heading to Ljubljana for their first test match (Slovenia, Friday, 8:30 p.m.), Tim Schneider is the first player to make his way home.
The former Alba Berlin player has therefore not made it into the final European Championship squad. This is the first of a total of four decisions that national coach Mumbru has to make regarding the twelve-man European Championship squad. The team started the training camp with 16 players.
The end of the training camp in Malaga, Spain, also marks the start of a series of test matches ahead of the tournament. First up are two matches against Slovenia, the first in Ljubljana (August 8, 8:15 p.m.) and the second in Mannheim (August 10, 5:30 p.m.). A week later, a small international tournament will take place at the SAP Garden in Munich with Serbia, Turkey, and the Czech Republic.
