Ronaldo is taking charge of Head’s operations in Brazil. Bruno Soares is coming on board as a co-investor, whilst the former striker is focusing on tennis.

Brazilian legend Ronaldo is expanding his involvement in tennis and taking control of Head’s Brazilian operations. The former world-class striker has acquired 51 per cent of DLD, which operates the Head and Mares brands in Brazil. The remaining 49 per cent went to a group of investors led by former professional doubles player Bruno Soares. No financial details of the transaction have been disclosed.

As a result, Ronaldo now owns not only the international sports equipment manufacturer Head, but also a majority stake in its Brazilian business partner. As president of Head Brazil, the 49-year-old is set to focus primarily on expanding the brand’s presence in the country.

Plans include investment in sales and distribution, support for retailers, and closer collaboration with clubs, academies and competition organisers. The promotion of young players is also set to form part of the new strategy.

“My passion is reaching a new level”

Ronaldo stated on social media: “My passion for tennis is reaching a new level. I am embarking on a new chapter as president of Head and taking control of the brand’s operations in Brazil.”

In Soares, he has a proven tennis expert at his side. The Brazilian, who was among the world’s best in doubles, is part of the investor group and is set to strengthen links with the tennis community.

The former Inter Milan striker has been following tennis closely for some time. A month ago, he emphasised his admiration for Jannik Sinner and explained that he now watches more tennis than football. Ronaldo has also taken to the court himself alongside Carlos Alcaraz and Paula Badosa.
