According to Barcelona president Joan Laporta, Hansi Flick will have a full squad to choose from for the start of the league season. New signings Marcus Rashford and Joan Garcia have been registered.
New signings and registrations have been a recurring issue for FC Barcelona in recent years – not least in the drama surrounding former Leipzig player Dani Olmo, who was denied a playing license by La Liga on New Year’s Eve 2025. However, to the delight of the Catalans, the situation is now completely different with the new signings Joan Garcia and Marcus Rashford.
Rashford already set to play against Mallorca?
When FCB travel to Mallorca for their season opener on Saturday evening (7:30 p.m.), Hansi Flick will have a full squad to choose from: “If Flick wants, Joan Garcia and Rashford can play tomorrow,” club president Joan Laporta told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo on Friday.
Barcelona has completed all the necessary registration steps and is awaiting final confirmation from La Liga. If this comes through, the registration of the two new signings would have gone surprisingly smoothly by Catalan standards.
Laporta was optimistic and combative about the mission to defend the title and praised Barca coach Flick in the highest terms: “He trains the team brilliantly. It’s a formula for success that works and can last for a long time,” Laporta said happily. “To those who have not yet come to terms with Barca’s return as a global football power, I have to say: Relax. This is a long-term project. We still have plenty of room for manoeuvre and staying power – many years of success lie ahead of us.”
