RB Leipzig: Worries about Laimer and Simakan

RB Leipzig not only lost two points in the 1-1 draw in Augsburg, but also two players.

Just before half-time there was a momentous foul by Augsburg’s Niklas Dorsch on Konrad Laimer. The Austrian remained injured, required treatment and did not return to the field after the restart, nor did defender Mohamed Simakan.

RB coach Domenico Tedesco explained afterwards that Laimer had suffered an ankle injury, while Simakan had muscular problems. There was no more detailed information, so it is also not clear whether the duo will be available on Saturday for the end of the first half of the season against Arminia Bielefeld.

The fact is that it was not enough for RB to win in Augsburg without the two of them. The Saxons were still leading 1-0 at half-time, but the tide turned in the second half: FCA played more courageously and in the end snatched a deserved point. From RB’s point of view, the point was quite flattering, as they had “quite a few hundred percent chances”, as Willi Orban said on Sky: “We could have ended the game already in the first half. “
