Rapid signs Horn from Nuremberg

New head coach Peter Stöger gets his second wish: Jannes Horn will be joining SK Rapid.

SK Rapid presented Jannes Horn on Friday morning as their second summer signing after Claudy Mbuyi. The 28-year-old defender has signed with the Hütteldorf club until summer 2027 and was previously under the wing of new Rapid coach Peter Stöger at 1. FC Köln.

“Our time together at 1. FC Köln only lasted a few months, but I have very positive memories of both his sporting and personal qualities,” said Stöger. “I am sure that Jannes Horn will be a great addition to our team.”

Horn was most recently on loan from 1. FC Nürnberg to MLS club St. Louis City. He played a total of 34 second division games for the Franconians in the spring of 2023 and in the 2023/24 season.

“When the offer came, my family and I decided immediately to accept it. The club and the city of Vienna impressed us so much that we didn’t want to listen to anything else,” said Horn. On top of that, he also got his favorite jersey number, 38, which he wore at VfL Bochum, Nuremberg, and St. Louis.
