Ajax is serious about the return of Brian Brobbey. Mino Raiola, agent of the RB Leipzig striker, says that talks about a winter transfer are being held.
Brobbey made the switch from Ajax to Leipzig last summer after refusing to extend his expiring contract in Amsterdam, but hardly plays at his new club. It had been known for a while that Ajax was thinking of a new collaboration with the native of Amsterdam and in an interview with NRC Handelsblad Raiola stated that it would be best for his client to return to Ajax .Recommended: Raiola: ‘It is best for Brobbey to go back to Ajax’
On Sunday evening Raiola was interviewed by Studio Voetbal and Brobbey was of course also discussed. Raiola now revealed that Ajax has actually taken action. “There are talks with Ajax and Ajax really shows that they want him back,” said the agent. ‘If Ajax now brings him back, it is because they really think they are going to use him. The feeling is good at the moment and we are trying to work it out with the clubs.”
Raiola reiterated that he hopes for Brobbey’s return to Ajax. “I think it would be good, because at this age you have to make as many playing minutes as possible. At the moment, Leipzig is a bit lost,” said the representative. Brobbey was only allowed to start in the base with one league match at his new club; then he was taken to the side before half-time .
Raiola is also the agent of Noussair Mazraoui, who has an expiring contract with Ajax. The Amsterdammers would like to extend this contract. “Nothing is excluded, but it is difficult,” Raiola said. Why is it difficult? “There are differences of opinion about the financial status.” According to the agent, Mazraoui will simply finish the season at Ajax.
