Raab sensation: new revelations

TV legend Stefan Raab holds out the prospect of a third show fight against boxing legend Regina Halmich on Instagram. She has now clarified: The fight is actually going to happen

It’s obviously not an April Fool’s joke: the legendary boxing show fight between TV legend Stefan Raab and former boxing world champion Regina Halmich is set to go into the third round!

After Raab kept his fans in suspense since the Easter weekend with viral clips that held out the prospect of a return from TV retirement, Halmich has now made it clear that she will once again step into the ring on September 14 against the 57-year-old – who will thus probably make his long-awaited TV comeback after nine years away from the screen.

It had already been announced the day before that tickets would go on sale today, Tuesday, at 3 pm. Raab later added via Instagram that tickets would be available via the Eventim portal. The provider itself then announced the location of the event: the PSD Dome in Düsseldorf, which holds almost 15,000 spectators. Tickets for “Stefan Raab vs. Regina Halmich: The Final Fight” – minimum price: 91.50 euros – are available via this link:

Stefan Raab keeps fans on Instagram in suspense

For the few who didn’t notice: On Good Friday, Raab posted a video on his previously little-used Instagram channel in which his old companion Elton tried to persuade him to return to the show stage. The former protagonist of the hit formats “TV Total” and “Schlag den Raab” agreed to “do something” again on the condition that he would amass 9 million followers within three days.

They didn’t get quite that many (2.8 million as of Monday morning), but Raab and Elton still took it to the next level on Monday: they reminisced about Raab’s exhibition fights with Halmich (“You have to box against her again” – “I’ve already beaten her up twice” – “SHE’s already beaten YOU up twice”), and the conversation ended with Elton contacting Halmich via cell phone and arranging a third fight.

At the end of the video, Raab is seen from the front for the first time, albeit with elaborate make-up and a fatsuit to show that he is massively overweight – and wearing a cap with the enigmatic inscription “NWSDWH”. This is followed by an insert in which “The Final Fight” appears to be made official.

Halmich then spoke out herself on Tuesday morning and wrote in a picture post on Instagram: “First the bad news: Stefan will only come back if I fight him. And now comes the good news: I have nothing better planned for September 14. We have a fight! Challenge accepted. “

,Yes, you might actually think it’s an April Fool’s joke, but I’ve already explained on my Instagram page: it’s actually reality. I really did get this request asking if I could imagine taking on this third show fight, this duel, again.” After “long and careful consideration”, she had said yes.

Raab vs. Halmich has already attracted millions of viewers twice

Raab and the now 47-year-old Halmich had already fought twice in the past, attracting a huge audience in front of the TV: the first fight took place in 2001 in the then TV Total studio, followed by a rematch in 2007 (“Die Rückkehr der Killerplauze”) in the Kölnarena.

Halmich won both times (and also broke Raab’s nose in edition 1), but Raab impressed with the seriousness with which he approached the show event. It became the cornerstone for the numerous other sports show spectacles by and with Raab (Wok World Cup, TV Total high diving, etc.) on Pro 7 and also paved the way for “Schlag den Raab” and “Schlag den Star”.

Since 2015, Raab has retired from all jobs in front of the camera and since then has only worked behind the scenes as a producer. Since January, he has been managing director of the new company “Raab Entertainment GmbH”, which has also just filed a patent application for “NWSDWH” as intellectual property.

Is Raab’s return to the screen and “Raab vs. Halmich III” the spectacular kick-off for the new project? Or is there something else behind the campaign – at the risk of leaving disappointed fans in its wake? More should be known by 3 p.m. at the latest …
