Puchacz on loan to Trabzonspor

After only half a year, Tymoteusz Puchacz is on the verge of leaving 1. FC Union, but only on a temporary basis. The Polish left-back is on his way to Trabzon. Meanwhile, Niko Gießelmann is said to have been lucky with his luck.

Puchacz is on his way to Turkey, on Monday the medical check should take place on the Black Sea. If everything goes as planned, the transfer, which was first reported by Turkish media, can then be completed promptly. Puchacz is to be loaned out by Union to Trabzonspor until the end of the season, with no option to buy, according to reports.

At the Turkish Süper Lig leaders, the left-back wants to get the playing practice he could hardly collect at Union. The Polish international, for whom Union had transferred the basic fee of 2.5 million euros to Lech Posen in the summer, only played for the Eisernen in the Europa Conference League. In the Bundesliga and the DFB Cup, coach Urs Fischer placed his trust in Bastian Oczipka and, above all, Niko Gießelmann, as Puchacz has defensive deficits that can hardly be overlooked. It remains to be seen whether the 22-year-old will improve in this area in the coming months in Turkey so that he can be considered as a regular player for Union in the new season.

Oczipka is ready

Without Puchacz, coach Fischer has two trained left-backs at his disposal in Oczipka and Gießelmann. The latter suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh in the 2-2 draw at Leverkusen on Saturday. After an MRI on Sunday, however, Union announced that they could “give the all-clear”. Gießelmann is “possibly” out for the upcoming home match against Hoffenheim on Saturday. However, the 30-year-old is expected to return to team training quickly.

Oczipka could therefore start against Hoffenheim. The former Schalke player, whom Union signed on a free transfer at the end of August, also replaced Gießelmann after he was substituted in Leverkusen due to injury.
