Pourié scores at old place of work – FWK ends Lauter’s home streak

The efficient Würzburger Kickers took three points from Kaiserslautern to win for the second time in a row under new coach Danny Schwarz. Marvin Pourié scored at his old stomping ground, while an FCK home streak that had lasted since January was snapped.

FCK coach Marco Antwerpen had to make changes in two positions after the 1:1 in Duisburg: Zimmer returned to the starting eleven for Götze (concussion), Sessa played for the suspended Hanslik.

Würzburg coach Danny Schwarz saw no reason to change his starting line-up after the 2-1 win against Türkgücü

Kraulich heads in unchallenged

On the 101st birthday of club legend Fritz Walter, his “heirs” started the game with commitment and attack. However, all the momentum brought no return, especially as Bonmann made an excellent save against Ritter’s well-placed shot (5th). The visitors were a different story: After Raab made a great save from Pourié’s header (18th), the doorbell rang in his box in the 23rd and 26th minute: First, Kraulich headed in a Kopacz corner unchallenged, then Pourié volleyed home Kopacz’s cross for the next goal – 2:0 for Würzburg!

Angrily, the Red Devils demanded three penalties in vain – Wunderlich also received a yellow card for complaining (39th) – while the FWK hit the post on the counterattack through Kopacz. Raab still had his fingers on it (39.). The score went into the break at 0:2.

Bonmann keeps the overview

Lautern came back with Kiprit in attack and first bit their way in front. Which, however, was to last until the final whistle: FWK defended with luck and above all skill! Luck, when Klingenburg headed over from five metres (59.). Skill, when Kiprit’s shot from seven metres was blocked by the many-legged visitors’ defence (75th). After the subsequent corner, the strong Bonmann made a great save on the goal line. The FWK goalkeeper had to clear the ball for the last time when Tomiak headed dangerously on goal (86th). In the end, FCK suffered their first home defeat since 30 January (0:1 against Wehen Wiesbaden) and Würzburg won their second game in a row in the relegation battle.

For Kaiserslautern, the 15th matchday sees them travel to south-western neighbours Saarbrücken on Saturday (2pm), while the Kickers welcome Eintracht from Braunschweig on Sunday (7pm) and with them former coach Michael Schiele.
