Potsdam outclass Werder 5:0

With seven positions reshuffled, Turbine Potsdam got off to a lively start against bottom side Werder Bremen and quickly took a 3:0 lead. Bremen never really got into the game and in the end the Brandenburgers won 5:0.

While Bremen only brought two new players compared to the 0:3 against Leverkusen, Turbine Potsdam changed seven positions compared to the 3:2 against Essen. Coach Sofian Chahed obviously opted for a much more offensive approach.

Bremen had the first chance of the game (Gidion hit the post with a volley in the first minute), but otherwise Potsdam were mainly forward. First Weidauer successfully finished a counterattack after a pass from Kössler (3rd), then Kössler set up Ehegötz for 2:0 (10th). And in the 16th minute, Turbine used a trick and played a corner kick not to the inside, but to the back, where Gerhardt laid it off for Chmielinski. Chmielinski’s high ball went into the net past Borbe.

With the clear lead behind them, Potsdam continued to control the game, but took it a little easier. The final decision finally came in the 37th minute when Ehegötz scored her second goal with a header at the left post after a cross from Chmielinski.

After the break, the air was out. Only in the final phase and after several changes did Turbine increase the tempo, but without creating any compelling chances for a long time. It was only in injury time that the fifth goal was scored, when Cerci rose highest after a free-kick cross from Höbinger and headed in powerfully.

This meant that Turbine won their third home game of the season. Next week, the team will play away at SC Sand on Sunday. Last-placed Bremen will be hoping for their first win of the season on Friday when they host Essen.
