NFL News: Colin Kaepernick Features in Nike’s Anniversary Campaign

Colin Kaepernick knows exactly what it is like to make sacrifices for something that you believe in. The NFL’s protest movement against racial injustice and police brutality has filled the headlines for some time and caused anger at the White House. Kaepernick has been central to the movement and at great cost to him personally, as he has not played NFL since 2016.

Kaepernick believes that the NFL purposefully ensured that he did not get a new contract, as a way of punishing him for his role in the protests. The row rumbles on, with NFL owners now asking players to stay in the dressing room if they are not happy to stand up and face the flag for the national anthem.

Nike is well and truly showing which side of the argument they are on by releasing their latest campaign featuring Kaepernick, which features the slogan – “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything. #JustDoIt”

Nike’s 30th anniversary of ‘Just Do It’

The campaign celebrates the 30th year of the ‘Just Do It’ slogan and will be a very high profile campaign. Nike has also said they will donate to Kaepernick’s ‘Know Your Rights’ campaign, in solidarity with the cause. The campaign will also include a range of apparel including shoes and T-shirts. No doubt a certain Mr Trump will have something to say about the campaign but there have been no public comments as of yet.

Colin Kaepernick net worth and career history

Kaepernick is thought to be worth $22m and the contract with Nike should add to that amount. He graduated from University of Nevado Reno and was drafted in 2011, (round 2, pick 36). He played for San Francisco 49ers from 2011-2106, winning the WAC Offensive Player of the Year on two occasions (2008 & 2010).
