Next shake-up in Paris: Neymar apparently wants to leave PSG

Paris Saint-Germain just can’t seem to settle down this summer. As “L’Equipe” reported late on Monday afternoon, Neymar (31) apparently wants to leave the club in this transfer period.

The transfer saga surrounding Kylian Mbappé has kept Paris buzzing this summer. But the next hammer is apparently looming: As reported by “L’Equipe” on Monday, Neymar told Paris president Nasser Al-Khelaifi on Sunday that he wants to leave the French capital this summer.

Just two and a half weeks ago, the Brazilian had publicly stated that he wanted to play for PSG in the coming season. Now, however, the plans are completely different – the pace-setter dreams of a return to FC Barcelona. It is difficult to answer the question of how the highly indebted club is supposed to finance the transfer and salary. But “L’Equipe” quotes an anonymous source, according to which the Catalans would also be very interested in signing the player.

There is currently an exchange between the clubs because Ousmane Dembelé wants to move to the French capital. Barcelona head coach Xavi has already confirmed the former Dortmund player’s imminent departure – and expressed his disappointment at Dembelé’s decision.

Neymar, meanwhile, would no longer be in Lionel Messi’s shadow at Barcelona – or later in Paris. In August 2017, Neymar had moved from FC Barcelona to PSG for the still unsurpassed record sum of 222 million euros. In Catalonia, the 124-time Brazilian international (77 goals) experienced the most successful period of his career – with the Blaugrana he won the triple of Champions League, Spanish championship and Copa del Rey in 2015, among others.

PSG fans “visited” Neymar

According to “L’Equipe”, one reason for the thoughts of parting was a “visit” by Parisian fans in front of Neymar’s house at the beginning of May, who had demanded the departure of the injury-prone technician. With PSG, Neymar has been French champion five times and won the French Cup three times. His CV includes 173 competitive games for Paris, in which he scored 118 goals and set up 77 others.

If Mbappé were to join Real this summer and Neymar were to get his way, the Clasico on the Iberian Peninsula would be enriched by a special story.
