Next opponent for Usyk confirmed?

Both boxers have 30 days to agree on the terms. But others also want to challenge the undisputed heavyweight champion.

Tyson Fury wants the next fight of the giants, Bochum’s Agit Kabayel is hoping for his world title shot, but the first candidate to challenge the undisputed heavyweight champion is someone else: the professional boxing association WBO has instructed Ukrainian Alexander Usyk to defend his title against New Zealander Joseph Parker. Both boxers now have 30 days to agree on the terms.

Usyk was crowned undisputed heavyweight world champion for the second time since 2024 with a knockout victory over Britain’s Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium in London on Saturday. The 38-year-old now holds the IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO belts.

In 2024, Usyk had already unified all four titles, but relinquished the IBF belt shortly thereafter, preferring a second duel with Fury to a mandatory defense. Dubois was then named IBF world champion. Parker is the WBO interim world champion, while Kabayel, as WBC interim champion, is entitled to a world title fight. The British fighter Fury had recently challenged Usyk in a high-profile public announcement.
