New Addition to the Schumacher Family: Ralf Looks Forward to His First Grandchild

Racing driver and TV analyst David Schumacher announced on Instagram that he and his wife Vivien are expecting their first child following their wedding

On Instagram, David Schumacher and his wife Vivien officially announced that they are expecting their first child. After a long-term relationship, the couple married in February 2026. The couple has not disclosed any further details about the pregnancy on social media.

The name David Schumacher isn’t just a familiar one in motorsports as a TV analyst for the DTM or as a race car driver on the Nordschleife. After all, the 24-year-old is the son of former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher. The six-time Grand Prix winner and Sky analyst can therefore look forward to becoming a grandfather in the future.

While David Schumacher has primarily competed in Formula 3, the DTM, and the ADAC GT Masters, his partner also has a career in motorsports to her credit.

Vivien Schumacher, formerly Vivien Keszthelyi, competed in the W Series and the Audi R8 Cup, among other series, though with only moderate success. The Hungarian-born race car driver last competed in 2021, driving for Team Motopark in the Euroformula Open.

David Schumacher, on the other hand, was most recently seen on the track at events such as the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring. Both cars for which Schumacher was entered as a driver at the highlight event in the “Green Hell” retired before reaching the finish line. Since last season, Schumacher has been part of the Haupt Racing team and occasionally drives a Ford Mustang GT3 for them.

In addition, father and son have already competed together in the Prototype Cup Germany, and were victorious right off the bat. There have also been some unusual appearances, such as a start in this year’s German Kart Championship in Ampfing. Schumacher competed there alongside his teammate Maini. It remains unclear whether we will see David Schumacher back as a driver in the DTM.
