Nets can hope for exemption rule for Irving – Kleber beats Schröder

While the Warriors surprisingly won the top duel in Miami, there was good news for the Brooklyn Nets despite the loss against Memphis. The NBA overview.

The Brooklyn Nets seem to be able to plan with Kyrie Irving again without restrictions for the season finale and the play-offs. According to the US news agency AP, New York Mayor Eric Adams will announce an exemption rule for athletes and artists on Thursday, allowing them to work in New York even if they have not been vaccinated against the corona virus. So far, Irving has only been allowed to play away from home for the Nets for this reason.

After the 120-132 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies, neither Nets coach Steve Nash nor Irving wanted to comment, preferring to wait for an official announcement. On his 30th birthday, Irving scored 43 points. Twelve days earlier, he scored a career-best 60 points in the Nets’ away game.

“It just changes the whole team when he’s out there. So hopefully we get some good news,” teammate Kevin Durant said Wednesday night (local time). The Nets remain eighth in the Eastern Conference, three wins behind the sixth-place Cleveland Cavaliers.

Warriors defy odds – Wagner brothers each in double figures

At the top, the Miami Heat surprisingly conceded a home defeat against the Golden State Warriors. Without stars Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green and despite three losses in a row, the Warriors won 118-104 in Florida.

In the West, the Dallas Mavericks moved up to fourth place behind the Warriors. Maximilian Kleber contributed six points, nine rebounds and two assists to the 110-91 mandatory win over Dennis Schröder and the Houston Rockets. Schröder finished with eleven points and one assist for the Rockets.

While Daniel Theis and the Boston Celtics won their fifth game in a row against the Utah Jazz – a clear 125:97, the brothers Franz and Moritz Wagner suffered another defeat with the Orlando Magic after two wins in a row. Despite 15 points from Franz Wagner and another 13 from Moritz Wagner, Orlando lost 102-118 at Oklahoma City Thunder.
