One of the core features in the new MyTEAM is the integration of the WNBA. Developer Visual Concepts emphasizes that attributes and badges apply equally.
EA SPORTS made the first move in soccer with FC 24, and now 2K is following suit: In NBA 2K26, female players will be represented in MyTEAM, the basketball equivalent of Ultimate Team, for the first time.
This new core feature is designed to enable “unique pairings that have never been seen before in the sport” – such as Jalen Brunson alongside Angel Reese or Lisa Leslie alongside Nikola Jokic. In addition to current players, there will also be cards featuring WNBA icons.
As 2K explained, attributes and badges apply equally to all items. “A 99 in three-point shooting remains a 99,” said Jonathan Smith, developer at Visual Concepts, in a media interview. Smith did not say whether or how differences in physique beyond pure attributes would be noticeable. The WNBA is fully integrated into all aspects of MyTEAM – from the players and mechanics to jerseys and crests.
New card type in MyTEAM
With the addition of the WNBA, 2K has also introduced a separate series in “Domination Mode.” Here, you compete against NBA teams controlled by AI with a lineup consisting exclusively of WNBA stars. You can set the difficulty level yourself in advance. The more Domination Stars you collect through victories, the greater the rewards you can unlock – more or less like a Season Pass. The broadcast has also been adapted accordingly. There are updated comments and reactions from Kevin Harlan, Greg Anthony, and Stan Van Gundy.
In addition to the WNBA integration, 2K is introducing another card type: Game Changers. These are consumable items that offer special advantages – such as a multiplier for REP or MyTEAM points, or even an automatic victory in a Breakout game without having to play it. NBA 2K26 will be released on September 5. Those who pre-order will receive access seven days earlier.
