National player Voigtmann leaves Moscow

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine, national basketball player Johannes Voigtmann (29) leaves ZSKA Moscow and returns to Germany for the time being. This was announced by the top club from the Russian capital. Four more professionals are turning their backs on ZSKA.

“The actions are a violation of the contract terms and club rules, but the club shows understanding for the personal situation of each player,” the Euroleague club announced. According to ZSKA, the players leave “for personal reasons related to the current situation between Russia and Ukraine and its possible consequences. “

With Tornike Shengelia (Georgia), Iffe Lundberg (Denmark), Joel Bolomboy (Russia/USA), former Berliner Marius Grigonis (Lithuania) and Voigtmann, five players have already departed. Their future with the club will be clarified “when the political and sporting situation in Europe returns to normal”.

Meanwhile, Moscow will no longer compete in the Euroleague for the time being, as it was announced in the evening that all Russian teams have been suspended by the league.
