Nate Diaz to Return at UFC 230

Nate Diaz has been out of the UFC since August 2016 at UFC 202 when he lost to Conor McGregor by majority decision. A news conference today is expected to take place to announce that Diaz will finally step into the octagon to take on lightweight Dustin Poirier on November 3 at Madison Square Garden.

Diaz was close to a comeback last year when he was offered an interim UFC lightweight title fight, which he accepted before then refusing to fight, saying that he didn’t want to do McGregor’s ‘dirty work’. All this was after he heavily contested the decision that went McGregor’s way at UFC 202. He continually turned down fights for two years and many people were wondering whether he would ever fight again.

Now the announcement that he will be on the card at UFC 202 has sent shockwaves and will definitely make it an event not to be missed. The biggest question is what kind of shape is Diaz going to be in after taking over two years away from fighting.

With 19 wins and 11 losses, he will be hoping to get off to a winning start against Poirier to announce his comeback in style. Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier is in impressive form right now, with a 2nd round TKO over Eddie Alvarez just last week.

With three months to prepare for the big fight, Diaz has plenty of time to get into the kind of shape that saw him beat McGregor back in March 2016. This fight will be a good indication of whether Diaz is back in the Ultimate Fighting Championship for good or is just lining up in this one for the purse.
