MotoGP rights holder Dorna on Suzuki exit: “There is no solution yet”

There will be no easy exit for Suzuki despite the contract, but on the other hand MotoGP rights holder Dorna does not want to force the Japanese to continue

At an event on Wednesday, Carmelo Ezpeleta, the chief executive of MotoGP rights holder Dorna, commented on Suzuki’s exit. So far there is no agreement on how the Japanese manufacturer’s MotoGP exit will be handled.

“We are in discussions with Suzuki. There will probably be an announcement on Thursday. We are talking about how it will be implemented,” Carmelo Ezpeleta reacted to the news that Suzuki will discontinue the project at the end of the 2022 MotoGP season.

Contractually, Suzuki is bound until the end of 2026. A five-year contract was signed only last year. “The exit is possible, but they cannot just leave. We have to talk about how it will be implemented,” Ezpeleta commented.

“There is no solution yet. On the other hand, it is not in our interest to force someone to continue against their will,” the Spaniard notes. Suzuki is expected to officially confirm the exit today.
