MotoGP 2022: Pramac-Ducati unveils design for Martin and Zarco

After last year’s successes, Pramac-Ducati wants to be the best satellite team in the 2022 MotoGP season – This is the design of the new Desmosedici GP22

The Ducati satellite team Pramac is setting big goals for the 2022 MotoGP season. They want to build on the successes of last season and play a role in the top field again. Jorge Martin claimed the first victory as a rookie in 2021 for the Italian team, which has been racing in the premier class for around 20 years.

Pramac’s track record was impressive last year. Martin and Johann Zarco celebrated a total of eight podium finishes. Martin also started from pole position four times. Pramac was the best satellite team at the end of the year.

Zarco, in fifth place, was also the best rider in a satellite team. Martin was crowned best rookie of the year. Pramac’s successes also helped Ducati win the Constructors’ World Championship for the second year running.

“Last season was the most intense of my life,” Martin looks back. “A sequence of very strong emotions, moments of great difficulty, but also extreme joy. Last year we laid the foundation. This year we are ready for big things. “

“Continuity,” adds Zarco, “is important to improve and to pursue ambitious projects. We have built a great relationship with the team and I am very happy with what we achieved last year. It will be another great season. “

The close collaboration with the Ducati factory team continues. Zarco and Martin will again have the same bike specification as the factory team at their disposal. They are virtually on an equal footing with their colleagues Francesco Bagnaia and Jack Miller.

Change in team management

In essence, Pramac is set up in the same way as last year. However, there has been one important personnel change. Team manager Francesco Guidotti has left for KTM. Claudio Calabresi took over this post in the winter.

The Italian has worked as a top manager at Eni and knows the MotoGP paddock very well. In previous years Calabresi was already part of the Pramac team and looked after the MotoE squad.

“This is my first time as team manager and I will do my best to take Pramac even higher,” Calabresi takes on. “I am sure Johann and Jorge will help us a lot because they have already done an excellent job in 2021.”

“This year the challenge is fascinating: to confirm ourselves and grow again. We have great ambitions and we will do everything to give a lot of pleasure to our fans.” Calabresi will be assisted by Fonsi Nieto.

The former racer will not only continue his duties as riding coach for Martin and Zarco, but will also take on the role of sports director. Paolo Campinoti will continue as team manager.

For the two riders, 2022 will also be a very important year, because their contracts with Ducati are coming to an end. At 24, Martin is one of the future top riders and could also be transferred to the factory team. For Zarco, who at 31 is still waiting for his first MotoGP victory, it’s all about his future in the premier class.
