Moto2 accident in fast Curvone curve! Tulovic: “Izan did not turn in”.

In the Moto2 race there is an accident between Lukas Tulovic and Izan Guevara in the notorious Curvone curve – Both are spared serious injuries

In the last lap of the Moto2 race, a dicey accident occurred in turn 11. “Curvone” is the fastest corner of the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Izan Guevara sat next to Lukas Tulovic on the approach to this right-hand bend. There was contact and both tumbled into the gravel at high speed. It was the duel for 16th place and both were fortunately spared serious injuries in this accident.

“I knew I couldn’t drive the best corner exits,” Tulovic described. “I always tried everything, but then Guevara still managed to get next to me from the slipstream on the last lap.”

“When it was time to turn into the fast right-hand bend, he was a tick ahead of me. I wanted to turn in, but then realised that he wasn’t turning in and then straightened up. But it was too late and there was a collision.”

Moto3 World Champion Guevara describes the situation like this: “As the laps went by, I started to have problems with the front tyre. On the last lap I overtook Tulovic, but there was contact when I already had the position. It was a hard crash, but luckily I’m okay.”

For Tulovic, it was the final straw after a disappointing weekend. “Other than that, the race was solid for the fact that we struggled all weekend and the starting position and the big gap we had,” the German feels.

“It would have been a sixteenth place. The start was good, the lap times and the pace were also good for our conditions at the moment. So it’s a shame that it ended up like this again. “

And what does IntactGP team boss Jürgen Lingg think? “With Lukas, the difficulties ran like a red thread through the entire weekend. In the race he rode a quite acceptable pace, but the gap to the top is still simply too big.”

“It is annoying that such a crash happened on the last lap. Nevertheless, we are of course delighted that both Senna and Lukas were unhurt after their crashes.” For Senna Agius also did not finish the race due to a crash.

For the next Grand Prix in India, Darryn Binder is planning his comeback. The South African injured a vertebra in his back in an accident in Austria. He also used the break to have a plate removed from his right hand following an injury sustained in a crash in Austin.
