Month-long break for Vidal – but no career end

Even at the age of 36, Arturo Vidal still wants to recover from a serious injury. The meniscus of the former Bundesliga professional was very much affected in the South America World Cup qualifier

Arturo Vidal is apparently not thinking about ending his career despite a serious knee injury. “I’ve been up 1000 times in my life and today will be no exception,” the 36-year-old wrote on Instagram on Wednesday evening to a selfie from a hospital bed.

It had previously been announced that the former Bundesliga professional of Bayer 04 Leverkusen and FC Bayern will have to undergo meniscus surgery and will be out for months afterwards. The Chilean suffered the injury in his national team’s international match against Colombia (0:0) on Tuesday. He was taken off the field on a stretcher after 73 minutes.

“Sooner or later I will be where I like to be most, on a football pitch, having fun, as I have done throughout my career,” Vidal wrote further. Because the season in Brazil ends with the calendar year, it is also clear that he will no longer play for his club Athletico Paranaense in the current season. He only moved from Flamengo Rio de Janeiro to Paraná in the summer.
