Millionaire new signing for Salzburg, Altach bring in Gaudino

Austria’s serial champions sign 19-year-old right-back Ignace van der Brempt from Club Brugge, Altach strengthen with German playmaker Gianluca Gaudino.

Champions Salzburg have signed a new right-back in Belgian Ignace van der Brempt. The Champions League eighth-finalists announced on Monday evening that the 19-year-old had joined from FC Brugge and signed a contract until the end of June 2026. Salzburg are said to have paid a reported five million euros to the Belgian top club for Van der Brempt. The Belgian U21 team player played in twelve league games and five Champions League games for Brugge in the autumn. Van der Brempt played as a substitute for the most part.

“He has developed very well at FC Brugge over the last few years and worked his way up from the youth team to the first team,” said Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund about the addition. He brings “excellent prerequisites in the overall package and fits perfectly into our requirement profile”. Van der Brempt said: “I will certainly need a little time to find my feet here. But I have a good feeling and want to achieve a lot. “

Prominent name for SCR Altach

SCR Altach have signed Gianluca Gaudino, a former German youth team player. The 25-year-old central midfielder moved to the Bundesliga bottom side on loan until the summer from German second division side SV Sandhausen. Gaudino had only played seven competitive games for the Germans, partly due to a coronavirus illness. The playmaker was trained at Bayern Munich and also made eleven competitive appearances for the record champions.

“With Gianluca Gaudino, we are signing a creative player who will enrich our offensive play with his technical skills and intelligent style of play. This also includes his strengths in standard situations,” said Altach’s sporting director Werner Grabherr. Gaudino himself wants to make “his contribution to keeping the team in the league”. He was also active at the Swiss clubs FC St. Gallen and Young Boys Bern as well as in Italy with Chievo Verona.
