Michael Schumacher signs helmet for a good cause!

Jackie Stewart’s dementia foundation is auctioning off a helmet autographed by all the living world champions – including Michael Schumacher!

This “autograph” is causing a stir in the Formula 1 paddock and beyond: former world champion Jackie Stewart has been running a foundation against dementia for years, and is now auctioning off a helmet with the signatures of all living Formula 1 world champions for a good cause – including Michael Schumacher!

The white helmet in the iconic Stewart design is to be officially unveiled on Sunday before the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, the British Daily Mail is already showing a photo of the head protection – and Michael Schumacher’s initials “MS” are clearly visible on it.

Stewart himself confirmed the “Schumi” signature to the newspaper and revealed: “It’s wonderful that Michael was able to sign the helmet for this good cause – a disease for which there is no cure.”

With regard to the German record world champion and his participation in the project, he explains: “His wife helped him – and with that, the collection of all champions who are still among us is complete.” In other words: Corinna Schumacher guided her husband’s hand for the special autograph!

The 56-year-old has been hermetically sealed off from the public since his serious skiing accident in December 2013, and no specific information is known about his exact state of health. The man from Kerpen ended his Formula 1 career with Mercedes about a year before the tragic accident at the end of 2012, having previously won seven world championship titles with Benetton and Ferrari.

But for Schumacher’s wife Corinna, his involvement in the charity auction was obviously just as important as the foundation is for Stewart: The three-time world champion had founded “Race Against Dementia” after his wife Helen was diagnosed with the disease, and to mark the occasion he will also do a demo lap in his 1973 world championship-winning Tyrrell in Bahrain on Sunday – at the ripe old age of 85!
