Mavericks still in a state of shock – Sixers squander lead against Celtics

After the shocking Doncic trade, the Dallas Mavericks still showed signs of paralysis. Meanwhile, Philadelphia squandered three strong quarters against Boston. Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks lost their third game in a row.

Mega comeback in the final quarter: Celtics beat Sixers

For the Philadelphia 76ers, who were still severely weakened by injuries, it initially looked like the long-awaited breakthrough. Tyrese Maxey led the home side’s efforts with 34 points (9/21), while Frenchman Guerschon Yabusele added 21 points. For 36 minutes, “Philly” dominated the Celtics, who only managed to fight back in the final quarter.

In the final 12 minutes, the reigning NBA champions put on an impressive comeback, scoring 38 points (15/22 FG). Jayson Tatum played the entire quarter and added 13 points. He finished with a total of 35 points (13/20) and 11 assists.

Mavs suffer heavy defeat after trade to Cavaliers

Just hours after the shocking trade that sent franchise star Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, the Mavericks were soundly beaten by league leaders Cleveland Cavaliers. However, without Irving, Gafford and Washington, coach Jason Kidd also sent a team of rotation players onto the court. The only remaining star player, Klay Thompson, had a completely off-day, hitting just one of his ten shots for a total of two points.

The Cavaliers once again impressed with their deep squad. A total of eight players scored in double figures. The top scorer was surprisingly Sam Merill (27 points), who the Cavs had drafted in last place in the 2020 NBA draft. Evan Mobley added a double-double (22/11).

Raptors stay hot and beat the Clippers too

The Toronto Raptors continue to ride a small wave of success away from the big spotlight. Against the Los Angeles Clippers, the Canadians already recorded their eighth win in ten games. Austrian Jakob Pöltl confirmed his solid form of recent weeks with a double-double (10/10). RJ Barrett scored 20 points and added seven assists.

As a team, the Raptors made 13 of their 25 three-point attempts (52%), while the Clippers only managed nine threes (out of 28) in the basket. James Harden led all players with 25 points, while Kawhi Leonard was unremarkable with 14 points (6/18).

Even without Morant: Grizzlies inflict Bucks’ third consecutive defeat

The Milwaukee Bucks, meanwhile, lost their third game in a row. Against the team in second place in the Western Conference, Doc Rivers’ team performed particularly well in the final quarter, which they lost by 18 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo did his best to prevent defeat (30/11/7), while co-star Lillard tried in vain to find his shot (4/15).

Memphis also compensated for the absence of star player Ja Morant. In his absence, center Jaren Jackson Jr. scored 37 points (12/26). For the Bucks, the defeat shrinks the lead to the play-in places to just two wins.

Cunningham leads Pistons to victory against Bulls

Cade Cunningham scored 22 points and had 15 assists as the Detroit Pistons won their 25th game of the season and their second in a row. The Pistons are now in seventh place in the East, just behind the Miami Heat. For the Bulls, however, the air in the play-in race is getting thinner; they are currently in tenth place.
